Job Summary
Providing transportation for patients receiving treatment at Generations Behavioral Health/GBH hospital or providing transportation for discharge patients/clients after receiving treatment at Generations Behavioral Health/GBH. Availability to transport patients who have medical or other appointments or are being discharged from the facility. In addition, perform minor maintenance and minor custodial duties on the vehicle, ensuring safety and cleanliness. Perform minor maintenance or custodial duties when there are no discharges.
Supervisory Responsibility: None
Position Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must have and maintained a valid and clear Ohio Driver's License; CDL preferred
- 2-5 years' relevant driving experience required
Responsibilities
- Transport patients to discharge location/destination
- Along with the Facility Director, plan the most suitable route for transporting multiple patients
- Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle and ensure safety measures are followed; maintain efficient, organized workspace/transport vehicle
- Maintain a clean driving record and obey all traffic laws
- Possess and utilize knowledge about appropriateness for patients/clients attending the GBH program
- Possess and utilize knowledge about appropriateness regarding patient/client communication, care and safety
- Maintain contact with patient/client during all transport services
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information
Certifications
- Current, active, valid and clean driver's license in the state of employment
- Current BLS, CPR and CPI training certification required
Working Conditions
Work occurs in a fast-paced psychiatric inpatient setting with patients who may display unpredictable or aggressive behaviors and must use de-escalation skills and follow safety protocols. The role requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, occasional lifting or assisting patients and the ability to respond quickly to emergencies while performing clinical tasks.
