What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver PT position at Generations Assisted Living?
- Efficiently and effectively assist residents to physician appointments, outings, scheduled and non-scheduled activity trips.
- Assist residents moving into and out of the van/bus; transfer between wheelchair, standing, and seating as appropriate.
- Operate the van/bus wheelchair lift and assist with all functions of the lift.
- Ensure all safety requirements have been fulfilled prior to leaving on trip (seatbelts, clear aisles, wheelchairs secured, etc).
- Keep all necessary mileage logs and safety check documentation in proper order.
- Maintain interior and exterior cleanliness of van/bus.
- Report any safety or mechanical issues to the Director of Maintenance or Executive Director immediately.
- May be responsible for routine maintenance of van/bus, such as oil changes and tire rotation.
- Attend mandatory meetings as scheduled by Executive Director.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident, community, employee, and company information.
- Maintain working knowledge of fire and disaster plans and responsibilities under emergency conditions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Must satisfy all state health, licensure/certification, and background requirements.
Education/Experience: Must be 21 years or older and have a high school diploma or equivalent, plus at least 1 year of experience driving a large van or bus. Prefer at least 3 years of driving history. Driving record must be in good standing and free of moving violations. Assisted living or long-term care facility experience is preferred.
Certificates and Licenses: Must have valid state driver license. State may require CDL with passenger endorsement. Must complete CPR and First Aid certifications if not current, plus any additional licensing requirements in state(s) of practice.
Communication Skills: Receive and carry out verbal or written instruction. Communicate effectively in person, over the phone, or via email with customers and co-workers.
Organization/Self-Management Skills: Perform repetitive work according to set procedures, with frequent distractions and interruptions. Must be able to recognize a problem and identify when it should be escalated to an appropriate team member.
Computer Skills: May require proficiency with computers to participate in training and/or other assigned tasks.
