Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance using tools like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Assist clients during meal times to promote proper nutrition.
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident’s needs, including autism support strategies.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties such as cleaning common areas and personal spaces regularly.
- Support clients in community outings or activities that foster social engagement and independence while ensuring safety at all times.
Requirements
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques.
- Certifications such as CPR, First Aid, and Hoyer lift training are preferred; willingness to obtain these certifications upon hire is required.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely (occasionally in excess of 50 lbs.) and perform physical tasks involved in patient handling and mobility assistance.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, including, but not limited to, mental illness, traumatic brain injury and autism is advantageous.
