Advancement Director
STARTING SALARY – $74,000 – $95,000 Annually DOQ/DOE/
CLASSIFICATION – Full-Time, Exempt
LOCATION – In Office Richland, WA
POSITION SUMMARY
The Advancement Director is a key member of the leadership team responsible for setting the strategic direction and managing the organization’s advancement efforts, including development, marketing, communications, and community engagement. This role ensures that Generational Care’s mission and impact are effectively communicated to donors, partners, and the public while driving sustainable growth through diversified revenue streams. The Advancement Director leads and mentors a high-performing team, including the Marketing Coordinator and Donor Relations & Events Coordinator, to execute cohesive, results-driven advancement initiatives aligned with the organization’s strategic plan. The Director plays a visionary role in expanding philanthropic support, strengthening community partnerships, and enhancing the organization’s visibility and reputation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Strategic Leadership & Vision
- Provide strategic direction for all advancement activities to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Develop and implement annual and multi-year advancement plans to grow community awareness and financial support.
- Lead, mentor, and empower the advancement team to achieve measurable outcomes and professional growth.
- Build strong collaboration between advancement, program, and finance departments.
- Establish and track KPIs, reporting systems, and performance dashboards to measure success.
- Fundraising & Development
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising program, including individual giving, corporate sponsorships, and community partnerships.
- Cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships with donors, businesses, and organizations.
- Grow major gifts and recurring giving programs with a focus on long-term donor relationships.
- Support the preparation and coordination of grant applications and reporting, working closely with the Executive Director and internal staff.
- Identify and pursue new revenue opportunities that enhance the organization’s sustainability.
- Supervise the Donor & Special Events Coordinator in managing the events, stewardship, and philanthropic needs.
- Marketing & Communications
- Direct the organization’s marketing and public relations efforts to strengthen brand visibility and engagement.
- Oversee creation of marketing materials, media outreach, and storytelling campaigns that inspire community connection.
- Supervise the Marketing Coordinator in managing the website, social media, and digital communications.
- Manage external communications, press relations, and speaking engagements to represent Generational Care positively in the community.
- Budget & Financial Management
- Develop and manage the advancement department budget in collaboration with the Executive Director and Finance team.
- Monitor revenue and expenses to ensure financial goals are achieved.
- Maintain high ethical standards and compliance with fundraising best practices.
- Community Engagement & Representation
- Serve as a visible ambassador for Generational Care, representing the organization at events, media appearances, and community functions.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with local businesses, civic groups, and other nonprofits.
- Collaborate with program outreach coordinators to identify opportunities for increased outreach and community involvement.
- Supervise the Healthy Ages Community Outreach Manager in helping manage the events, classes, outreach and philanthropic needs.
- Other
- Stay current on trends in philanthropy, communications, and nonprofit advancement.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
- Gen Care reserves the right to modify, add, or remove duties and assign other duties as necessary, including working in other functional areas to cover absences or relief, to equalize work periods, or otherwise balance the workload.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven success leading advancement, marketing, or development functions within a nonprofit or mission- driven organization.
- Demonstrated ability to build and sustain donor relationships and secure major gifts.
- Strong leadership, team-building, and performance management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication with a compelling, mission-centered voice.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans.
- Proficiency in CRM/donor management systems and digital marketing tools.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion.
