What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scientist II position at Generation Lab?
Scientist II, Molecular & Cellular Biology
Generation Lab Vision
Generation Lab is slowing aging, and preventing illness.
The company offers the only test that consistently and accurately measures the pace of aging across 21 systems in the body. It is unique in its actionability and its ability to find medical issues before they develop into medical problems.
Generation uses anonymized data from the test to develop therapeutics in its laboratory. The first compounds begin human trials within the next few months.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Scientist II to join our Molecular and Cellular Biology (MCB) team. This role sits at the intersection of rigorous bench science and lab infrastructure, you will help drive validation workflows that are critical to our SystemAge diagnostic platform and assay development for therapeutic development, while supporting the compliance and operational excellence of our state-of-the-art facility. You will work closely with a small, high-output team and contribute directly to experiments that matter.
Your Impact & Experience
What You Own
• Execute and optimize molecular biology assays across the full stack (cells, nucleic acids, and proteins) to generate the data that advances longevity science.
• Own lab compliance documentation and BSL-2 safety protocols at our lab facility
• Maintain accurate, reproducible experimental records and support data handoff to the broader team
• Think critically to troubleshoot assay failures with a methodical, first-principles approach
Where You Assist
• Collaborate on therapeutic candidate experiments (toxicology and efficacy assays across multiple cell types)
• Contribute to experiment planning and protocol writing, helping the team move faster and more reproducibly
• Support reagent and inventory management to keep the lab running without interruption
• Support lab operations, including equipment maintenance and vendor coordination
What You Teach
• Hands-on molecular biology expertise: assay design, troubleshooting, and result interpretation across multiple techniques
• Communicate complex science clearly: you'll be a bridge between the bench and our go-to-market team, translating experimental findings into language that drives decisions across the company
• Lab compliance workflows and EHS documentation best practices
What You Learn
• The biology of aging: epigenetics, senescence, and DNA methylation-based diagnostics
• How a longevity therapeutic goes from hypothesis to human trial
• Working at the frontier of lab science
Qualifications
• You are a kind person
• 2–4 years of industry or research experience in molecular biology or a related field
Compensation and Benefits
• Potential Immortality
• Base salary: $100,000 – $120,000 annually, commensurate with experience
