POSTED ON 4/21/2026

Job Description Onsite: This position requires an employee to be on-site on a full-time basis. The Role The Materials Technician supports safe, reliable, and on-time development builds by executing day-to-day material handling, kitting, and inventory control activities at the Ancker-Johnson Battery Cell Development Center (BCDC). This role works hands-on at the docks, warehouses, and production floor to ensure the right materials are in the right place at the right time, in alignment with build plans and quality requirements. Materials Technicians play a key role in maintaining safe, organized, and efficient material flow: they ensure correct labeling and traceability, maintain 5S in storage and line-side areas, communicate shortages and discrepancies, and coordinate closely with planners, engineers, and build teams so the right materials are in the right place at the right time in alignment with build plans and quality requirements. What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities) Execute safely aligned with GM standards (eg. OSHA, PSM, DG). Receive, inspect, label, and store materials, consumables, and tooling per procedures and safety requirements (including DG/hazmat where applicable). Pick, kit, and deliver materials to point of use based on build schedules and pull signals; return unused materials and update system records. Perform inventory control activities (cycle counts, adjustments, shelf-life checks, quarantine moves, scrap/obsolescence segregation). Operate material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, tuggers, forklifts) in a safe and compliant manner. Maintain 5S and visual controls in dock, warehouse, and line-side material areas. Use systems such as eSAP, MGO/MGOC, WMS, ASRS, and/or FlexNet/Apriso to transact receipts, moves, issues, and adjustments. Escalate shortages, discrepancies, or quality concerns and support basic problem-solving to prevent repeat issues. Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) High school diploma or equivalent. Experience in materials handling, warehousing, or production support in a manufacturing or development environment. Basic knowledge of inventory control, material identification, and documentation practices. Ability to safely operate or learn to operate powered industrial trucks and other material handling equipment. Comfort using computer-based systems and scanners for transactions and tracking. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and support overtime or off-shift work as needed. Flexibility for overtime, weekends, holidays, and cross-shift work. What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications) Knowledge of lithium-ion cell manufacturing (electrode, assembly, formation). Experience in development, pilot, or startup environments. Familiarity with GMS, CI methodologies, and Workplace Safety Systems. Experience in automotive, battery, or other advanced manufacturing environments. Familiarity with eSAP, MGO/MGOC, WMS, ASRS, or similar material systems. Experience handling DG/hazmat materials and understanding of related regulations. GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role. Do not apply for this role if you will need GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future. This includes direct company sponsorship, entry of GM as the immigration employer of record on a government form, and any work authorization requiring a written submission or other immigration support from the company (e.g., H1-B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, J-1, etc).
