Reports to: Operations Manager
Responsibilities:
- Dispatch drivers in areas throughout the United States
- Able to communicate with drivers, shippers and consignees in a professional manner
- Responsible for giving directions to drivers and setting delivery appointments
- Negotiate rates with brokers when loads are needed to fill trucks
- Perform duties for brokerage company as work load demands
- Willing to handle minimal after- hours phone calls
- Follow company policies and procedures; complete administrative tasks correctly and on time.
- Reacts well under pressure; follows through on commitments.
- Balance customer demands and company resources of drivers and equipment effectively
Experience:
Experience in transportation industry is required; brokerage experience a plus.
Skills:
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
- Effective; results-oriented; persistent
- Strong negotiation skills is a must
- Computer skills-Experience with McLeod TMS operating system a benefit
- Able to speak clearly and persuasively in both positive and negative situations
- Professional phone skills
- Trustworthy; able to work independently as well as within a team
Hours:
Standard business hours; Monday through Friday; some after- hours calls may be required.
Travel/Physical requirements:
This position requires the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. No travel is required.
