What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Specialist position at General Shale?
Position Summary:
The Safety Specialist is responsible for coordinating, promoting, and monitoring company-wide safety efforts, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory standards, and partnering with facility leadership to continuously improve workplace safety. This role requires frequent travel to various General Shale sites in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Colorado.
Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate, promote, and monitor safety programs and initiatives across multiple sites.

Ensure compliance with OSHA and MSHA requirements.

Advise and support manufacturing and engineering teams during the implementation of new equipment, processes, and procedures.

Lead and facilitate employee safety training and educational programs.

Administer, evaluate, and continuously improve all company safety programs.

Maintain accurate, up-to-date safety records and provide timely reporting and correspondence as directed.

Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies.

Conduct internal safety audits, inspections, and hazard assessments.

Identify safety issues and lead the implementation of corrective actions and safety improvements.

Partner with cross-functional teams to drive safety performance and ensure ongoing compliance.

Monitor and communicate regulatory changes that may impact operations.

Participate in safety and workers’ compensation due diligence and investigation efforts.
Qualifications:

Minimum of five years of experience in an occupational safety role, preferably within a manufacturing environment.

In-depth knowledge of OSHA and MSHA regulations.

Demonstrated experience with regulatory compliance, ergonomic hazard mitigation, and safety program management.

Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Health, or a related field.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.

Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.

Willingness and ability to travel regularly to company sites.
