Under general supervision, is responsible for professional photography work of average difficulty; and performs related work as required. This is the working level within the State Photographer series and work includes a variety of work assignments in photography including: advertising, public relations, news, illustration, location, studio, and portrait. Understands and adheres to photography/videography guidelines and standards. Has thorough knowledge and experience with concepts like composition, lighting, and balance. An incumbent within this classification develops relationships with all levels of State Government in order to become trusted in highly sensitive situations through conversation and thoughtful suggestions. This class differs from that of State Photographer 1 in that incumbents performs duties at the entry level and assignments are of routine difficulty.

Key Responsibilities:

Uses photographic and video equipment to capture a subject, place, or event.
May stage subjects or areas for capture and may work directly with customers.
Identifies valuable photos or videos for use on projects.
Responsible for processing, archiving, and retrieving digital image assets.
Keeps record of their equipment and how many hours allocated to projects.
Interacts with the media and public on a routine basis.
Travels across the State to fulfill photo requests

Minimum Qualifications:

Preferred Education & Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree, with emphasis in photography and experience equivalent to two years of full-time increasingly responsible and skilled photographic work.

Substitution of Experience for Education: Qualifying full-time increasingly responsible and skilled photographic work may be substituted for the required education, on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of four years.
