Service Technician Apprentice

Job Description

Our Service Technicians are the face of our business, and who our customers turn to first when they have a concern. As a Service Apprentice, you will learn how to provide troubleshooting and repair expertise as well as how to aid our customers in the installation, maintenance, and repair of their refrigeration systems. During your apprenticeship you will learn hands-on skills under our Senior Service Technicians while also pursuing industry certifications.

Job Duties

• Learn to troubleshoot and repair large, complex industrial refrigeration systems and associated control systems under the guidance of a Senior Service Technician.
• Learn and promote standard maintenance of refrigeration systems.
• Follow safety protocols and wear protective gear.
• Promote, build, and maintain excellent customer relationships.
• Complete the National Standards of Apprenticeship program for Industrial Refrigeration Technicians.
• Pursue industry certifications and manufacturer-presented training programs as it relates to your continued growth.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a mechanical, HVAC, electrical and/or control systems role is preferred.
• Ability to gather and make sense of new information in an evolving and fast-paced work environment with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and desire to work safely.
• Ability to work under the guidance and direction of a Senior Service Technician.
• Possess the ability to communicate effectively with customers while maintaining a professional demeanor and positive attitude.
• Pre-employment drug screening, criminal background screening, and driving record checks will be required for this role.
• Availability to travel for overnight stays up to 20% of the time to customers in the eastern United States as needed.
• Weekend availability is required.

Physical Requirements

• Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including electronic and diagnostic tools, recovery equipment, and various other equipment.
• Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials.
• This position requires: stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, seeing, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
• Must be able to work in various work environments to include inside and outside at varying temperatures.
• Must be able to exert up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently.
• Physical demand requirements are at levels of those of medium work.
