Job Summary:
As a General Laborer at GP&C, you will provide hands-on support across our production and facility areas. This is an entry-level role suited to candidates who are reliable, safety-conscious, and willing to learn — no manufacturing background is required. Depending on the needs of the shift, a General Laborer may be assigned to assist machine operators and technicians with production tasks, support material handling and staging, or perform machine and facility cleaning duties. Full training is provided on the job.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
● Assist machine operators and technicians with day-to-day production tasks as assigned.
● Load and unload machines and materials, including filament winding equipment.
● Retrieve, stage, and move materials, tooling, and completed parts.
● Assist with stringing and basic set-up of filament winder machines.
● Assist with selecting and verifying the correct program/tooling for the job, under guidance from a technician.
● Assist with measuring and verifying tooling using basic measuring devices (tape measure, ruler, and — with training — calipers and OD micrometers).
● Clean and wipe down machines, workstations, and surrounding areas.
● Sweep, mop, and maintain clean, organized work areas and walkways.
● Empty and maintain waste and coolant containers as directed.
● Complete basic paperwork, logs, and data collection entries.
● Maintain 5S and general housekeeping standards.
● Assist with material handling using pallet jacks, carts, and (with training/certification) forklifts or overhead cranes.
● Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks on equipment as directed.
● Work cooperatively with other departments to support shifting priorities.
● Follow all work procedures, safety requirements, and company policies.
● Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
● High school diploma or GED preferred; not required.
Experience:
● No prior experience required — on-the-job training provided.
Skills:
● Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficient to follow written and verbal instructions.
● Basic math skills.
● Basic computer skills a plus.
Personal Attributes:
● Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
● Team player with a positive, self-motivated attitude.
● Able to multitask and manage time within a fast-paced environment.
Preferred (not required):
● Prior forklift or overhead crane experience.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
● Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally, per team-lift guidelines.
● Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, up to a full 10-12 hour shift.
● Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
● Must be able to work in both hot and cold conditions.
● May be required to work around resins, composite materials, chemicals, and solvents in designated areas (training and PPE provided).
● Regularly required to use hands to grip, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
