General Packet, LLC has an immediate opportunity for a Telecommunications
Technician – Network Cabling Technician in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New York,
New Jersey, Maryland, and Virginia and Washington D.C.areas. (East Coast, United
States)
Target Start Date: Immediately
Primary Responsibilities:
Install, repair and maintain data, cabling,copper and fiber optic cabling, racks,
patch panels, routers, switches and wireless access points for of networks for
data and voice communication networks.
Required Job Experience:
Follow directions and diagrams for cabling installationsCategory N for
Category 3/5/5e/6 and fiber optic cabling, termination, and certification tools.
Install, test, troubleshoot, and repair digital switching equipment, consoles, and
related telecommunications systems.
Perform cable management and identification according to recognized industry
standards such as Telcordia, BICSI, and the National Electrical Code
(NEC/NFPA 70) regarding Low Voltage Standards.Install, maintain, and repair
cable systems, most often involved with internet services
Run, pull, support, and stop, and terminate splice copper and fiber optic cables
(e.g., CAT5, SE, CAT6); mount telecom equipment following industry standards.
Arrange routers, hubs, racks, ladders, j-hooks, and switches based on client
specifications.
Install access control systems, surveillance cameras; maintain strong client
relations, and provide attentive support.
Carry out copper installation, testing, and troubleshooting; resolve attendant AV
cabling issues, and install networking IP devices.
Manage parts, tools, and supplies inventory, and supplies accurately.
Some eExperience in copper and fiber optic cabling systems, closet hardware,
connecting blocks, fiber enclosures, and patch panels is a requirement of this
position.a plus.
Knowledge of installation Telecom work, wiring practices, underground copper
and fiber infrastructure, work, color code terminations, and switched Ethernet
/DSL connections is required.
3 years of networking infrastructure experience a plus but will train.
Conduit bending
must have own telecom tools (snips, punch down, cordless drill, wire strippers,
PPE)
Ability to work at heights and lift 50 pounds
