Orion Assembly - For us the the future in now. We are an assembly plant at the cutting edge of product and manufacturing processes. We strive for excellence in developing and sustaining the manufacturing enablers to quickly bring to market the most advanced and innovative automotive products to date. The Orion Assembly plant manufactures the Bolt EV and Bolt EUV ( all electric vehicles) and the Cruise Autonomous Vehicle (a self-driving car). As a Shift Leader, direct and coordinate manufacturing activities in a department, group of departments or plant operation. Has responsibility for a very large group of employees including first and second line supervisory subordinates. Work is of a difficult and involved nature where a high level of independent judgment and discretion are exercised.

Qualifications:
- Manage the shop floor operations
- Promote, educate, communicate and follow up on safety initiatives.
- Maintain shift safety by audits, observation, follow up of all incidents and compliance to Workplace Safety System Requirements.
- Assist in obtaining resources to effectively perform operations.
- Excellent communication skills with team, support, across shifts & leadership
- Report shift status to unit director.
- Planning and organizational ability.
- Complies with the terms of National and Local Labor Agreements.
- Allocate manpower as needed. Plan release for training.
- Coach and Develop Group leaders and Team Leaders through proficiency reviews and evaluations to improve their general performance.
- Support unit manager to resolve issues in conjunction with union.
- Liaise with customers for quality problems and co-ordinate countermeasures.
- Knowledge to assure full compliance to quality control procedures, manufacturing processes and management systems as they relate to production operations.
- Provide leadership for SPQRCE for the full shop.
- Advanced Knowledge of GM Global Manufacturing Systems & Basketweave participation
- Champion of allocated Business Plan Deployment activities.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement processes (CIP), waste reduction and pace management.
- Sign off standardized work charts. Facilitate for agreement with all shifts.
- Interact with Local Manufacturing Engineering on processing, lay out and tooling for current and future products.
- Knowledge of the total produc tion build process.
- Discuss weekly production plan with production control & adjust as results of issues
- Works with maintenance on maintaining efficient TPM program.
- Delivers budget performance and achievement of productivity improvements.
- Ensure cost control achieves budget requirement
Required:
- Knowledge of quality control procedures, manufacturing processes and management systems as they relate to production operations
- High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
- High level of oral and written communication skills
- Strong project management leadership skills
- Must be willing to rotate shifts
Preferred:
- GMS Trainer and Subject Matter Expert on GMS Elements
- Experience in Quality systems & Product Engineering
- Knowledge of system engineering, software development, and hardware integration
- Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area
Education & Training:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent training
