The Role
The Virtual Hardware-in-the-Loop (V-HIL) team is a highly technical, highly knowledgeable, passionate, strategic, and visionary group working on an organizational transformation. We are seeking cutting-edge solutions to the question: how do we develop and validate our embedded control system without any hardware? The VHIL team is developing a 100% virtual HIL platform to do just that. This means that you can potentially put a fingerprint on the vehicles that drive down the road! This space is ripe with technical leadership opportunities for advanced technology development, as well as the ability to provide mentorship for new employees. You can flex your teamwork muscles as you will be tasked with working with several other areas of engineering, IT, and the business.
The development of virtual electronic control units (VECU) and their integration into virtual component, subsystem and system benches is vital aspect of virtual embedded control system development. A new Engineering Group Manager (EGM) will lead a team of engineers to develop VECUs and/or develop virtual component benches. The EGM will ensure their team has the capability and resources needed. They will provide thought leadership, foster innovation, facilitate communication, and inspire passion into the organization.

Responsibilities

Continue fostering of virtual development vision and execution roadmap. Coordinate execution of development across the organization in accordance with roadmap.

Build relationships, work closely with functional peers across GFL and lead GECSE partnerships with indirect and indirect purchasing as well as legal staff to align internal teams towards common VHIL objectives.

Build and continue supply base relationships with industry stakeholders (Tier 1 ECU, Silicon and Tooling vendors) to ensure alignment towards common VHIL objectives.

Facilitate integration of VHIL as part of GMs standard work for developing software across GECSE.

Lead growing team through the continued formal organization of roles and responsibilities, as well as establishment of standard work and tasks.

Ensure a formal quality deliver process of VECUs and virtual component benches

Establish persistent advanced development to ensure the team is working to leading edge requirements.

Establish clear plans for execution per program milestones and anticipate/mitigate risk.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or Mathematics

5 years of engineering experience with at least 2 years' experience related to embedded software and/or controller hardware

Exceptional collaboration and teamwork; demonstrated ability for working across functional and organizational boundaries

Exceptional demonstrated experience leading large-scale projects

Demonstrated capability to partner with purchasing to establish and execute commercial strategies
