Role Description
The Process Engineer at General Metal Finishing is a hands-on role responsible for supporting and improving daily plating operations. This position works directly on the production floor to troubleshoot process issues, optimize plating performance, and ensure compliance with customer and industry specifications. The engineer will develop and maintain process documentation, monitor bath chemistries, assist with new job qualifications, and drive continuous improvement initiatives related to quality, throughput, and cost. Close collaboration with operators and quality is required to maintain consistent, high-quality output in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in electroplating or metal finishing preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Materials, Mechanical) or equivalent hands-on industry experience
- Strong understanding of electroplating fundamentals, bath chemistry control, and surface preparation
- Ability to work hands-on on the production floor and troubleshoot process issues in real time
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Effective communication skills; able to work cross-functionally with operators, quality, and management
- Self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
