Role Description
This is a part-time, on-site role for a Research Associate based in Waltham, MA. GMet is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Associate to join the laboratory team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and is eager to contribute to high-throughput metabolomics workflows. The ideal candidate will be comfortable preparing mobile phase buffers, operating and maintaining LC-MS instruments, and executing sample preparation workflows with minimal supervision.
This position requires long-term eligibility to work in the US without sponsorship.
Qualifications
- Direct, hands-on experience operating LC-MS instrumentation in a laboratory setting.
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology or a related field
Major Responsibilities
- Contribute to day-to-day operations of GMet’s standardized analytical laboratory environment
- Independently execute SOPs for preparing biological samples for LC-MS analysis.
- Receive and validate customer samples.
- Prepare HPLC mobile phases and buffers with accuracy and consistency.
- Tune and equilibrate LC-MS systems.
- Prepare instrument worklists and manage mass spectrometry data through GMET's data processing pipelines.
- Maintain laboratory inventory of samples, chemicals, and materials.
- Support method development including use of high-throughput platforms such as 96-well plates, multi-channel pipettes, and semi-automated liquid handling robots.
- Maintain a detailed electronic laboratory notebook.
- Perform data entry and administrative tasks supporting laboratory operations.
Required Experience:
- 1-2 years' hands-on experience with small-molecule LC-MS (academic or industry)
- Familiarity with good pipetting technique (serological, single and multi-channel pipettes)
- Experience working in a BSL-2 laboratory environment
- Experience preparing mobile phases, buffers, and reagents

Compensation and Benefits:
- $31-36 per hour, commensurate with experience
