Queens-based non-profit social services agency serving individuals with developmental disabilities of all ages for more than 30 years is seeking a part-time Residential House Handyman, who is responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks to ensure the proper functioning and upkeep of residential properties. They will work closely with house managers, and other staff members to address maintenance issues promptly and efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine inspections of residential properties to identify maintenance needs, including plumbing, electrical, and structural issues.
- Perform general repairs and maintenance tasks, such as fixing leaky faucets, replacing light fixtures, repairing drywall, and painting walls.
- Troubleshoot and repair minor electrical and plumbing problems, such as replacing switches, outlets, and faucets.
- Handle basic carpentry tasks, such as installing shelves, repairing doors, and replacing broken windowpanes.
- Conduct preventive maintenance activities, including HVAC filter changes, gutter cleaning, and lawn maintenance.
- Respond to maintenance requests from homeowners or property managers in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work performed, materials used, and time spent on each task.
- Coordinate with contractors or vendors for specialized repairs or services beyond the technician's expertise.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment.
- Assist with property inspections and prepare reports detailing maintenance findings and recommendations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Valid driver's license and a reliable mode of transportation.
- Proven experience in residential maintenance or a related field.
- Solid knowledge of basic maintenance and repair techniques, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with homeowners, property managers, and other team members.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as in a team environment.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects when necessary.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
