Overview
Department 428 is seeking highly motivated individuals to support the design and construction of the COLUMBIA Class submarines. D428 engineers support a wide variety of HM&E electrical systems across the following areas; monitoring and control systems (HMC), fire detection systems (FDS) and the integrated communication system (ICS). D428 engineers also support the development of internal and external cableways for COLUMBIA Class.

D428 engineers also support the development of internal and external cableways for COLUMBIA Class.
Responsibilities
- Develop design disclosures such as cabling diagrams, wiring tables, cable routing sheets, and assembly and detail drawings to support COLUMBIA Class construction
- Develop component procurement specifications and manage vendors that design, manufacture, and qualify components for the COLUMBIA Class
- Troubleshooting / deck plate support for issues identified by the construction team
Required
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering
- 0-5 years post-graduate experience.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense secret clearance
- Masters degree in Electrical or Systems engineering
- Experience in subcontractor management
- Experience in system component design, qualification and integration
- Experience in ship construction
- Candidate must be highly motivated and be capable of performing independently, as well as interact with other groups and organizations in a team environment
- Candidate must possess strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and technical writing skills
- Some travel may be required
