Job Overview
We are seeking a professional and detail-oriented Front Desk Agent to join our healthcare facility. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing exceptional customer service while managing administrative tasks efficiently. This role requires strong knowledge of medical administrative support, EMR systems, and healthcare documentation to ensure smooth clinic operations. Bilingual skills and prior clinic or medical office experience are highly valued to enhance patient interactions and streamline office workflows.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes using EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, and other EHR platforms
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification procedures
- Schedule appointments accurately utilizing medical scheduling software
- Handle multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette and assist with patient inquiries
- Collect payments and process billing using medical billing and coding knowledge including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 codes
- Review and update medical records ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Assist with documentation review, intake procedures, and care plan coordination
- Maintain organized filing systems for medical records and administrative documents
- Support office management tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and document management
- Ensure adherence to health information management standards and confidentiality protocols
Experience
- Prior experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment is preferred, especially in clinics or dental offices
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and insurance processes including Medicare is highly desirable
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and health information management software
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively in a bilingual environment if applicable
- Experience handling medical billing, documentation review, insurance verification, and office administration tasks is advantageous
