General Atomics Systems Integration, LLC (GA-SI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a provider of military and commercial engineering services. GA-SI is a leading-edge expert in systems integration technologies, reliability improvements, and controls system design.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Systems Engineering Manager at our General Atomics Systems Integration (GA-SI) group in Kaysville, UT. This position is responsible for the planning, managing and technical performance of the Electrical System Engineering unit.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for managing GA-SI Electrical Systems Engineering activities including the development of electronic products, development of test equipment, performing testing, validation and verification efforts, the creation, modification, and sustainment of engineering documentation, and other activities as required.
  • Responsible for those portions of Systems Engineering to support the development of electrical architectures and requirements in conjunction with other engineering organizations.
  • Responsible for managing planning and managing technical performance of personnel resources to ensure quality, schedule, and financial objectives are met.
  • Manages all phases of assigned engineering projects from inception through completion.
  • Oversee the execution and establish the development and improvements of engineering processes in accordance with SAE ARP4754, RTCA DO-254, and related standards, as applicable, for commercial and military programs.
  • Ensures that electrical and system requirements are established, recorded, and managed for traceability during the performance of engineering efforts.
  • Participates in and coordinates the establishment of design concepts, criteria, and engineering efforts for product research, development, testing, and integration.
  • Ensures technical leadership and excellence is maintained by participating in the planning, attraction, selection, retention, and development of the required management, professional, and technical talent.
  • Leads progress review sessions to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance.
  • Acts as primary contact for Electrical Systems Engineering activities.
  • Identifies engineering issues and provide leadership in developing solutions such as re-allocation of resources or modifying contract specifications.
  • Oversees the interactions of Electrical Systems staff with customers, suppliers, and support organizations.
  • Interacts with internal and external representatives at various levels concerning resolution of technical and scheduling issues.
  • Participates with technical staff, program managers and/or Division/Group executive management to develop and implement current, annual and long-term technical, schedule, quality, business and financial objectives.
  • Manages the development of and ensure the security of the Division proprietary technology and maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Participates in the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets and financial terms/conditions of contract(s).
  • Participates in the development of new business opportunities and expansion of existing business opportunities.
  • May also contribute to the development of annual and long-term objectives for the Engineering Services Division.
  • May be responsible for decisions that impact outcomes where erroneous decisions could cause serious schedule delays and expenditure of additional time, resources and funds.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of General Atomics. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a Bachelors, Masters or PhD in electrical engineering or a related technical field as well as eleven or more years of progressively complex engineering experience. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
  • Demonstrates technical expertise in the application of electrical engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice as well as project management and leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones.
  • Experience with the development of electrical hardware systems from inception to manufacturing.
  • Experience with electrical manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with certification, acceptance testing and qualification testing for aerospace applications.
  • Must have experience with aircraft braking systems and controls.
  • A working knowledge of SAE ARP4754, RTCA DO-254, and other FAA and Military standards and requirements.
  • Must possess the ability to resolve complex management and technical problems.
  • Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives.
  • Able to work extended hours as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance is required.
