DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under general supervision with limited review:
- Ensure day to day work activities are being accomplished in accordance with Supervisor/Manager expectations.
- Make appropriate daily floor assignments consistent with Supervisor/Manager expectations.
- Work to identify any training gaps in the area.
- Ensure Supervisor/Manager is immediately informed of any barriers or issues.
- Identify and notify Supervisor/Manager of any potential work hazards.
- Ensure all Technicians are following safety policies. (Not limited to your area)
- Ensure that tools required for job tasks are available including special fixtures/jigs etc. prior to production.
- Works with Managers/Supervisors to ensure the staff is properly trained, qualified and, certified where required.
- Provides mentoring to employees in development stages as necessary.
- Works with other Leads to promote cross training of Technicians.
- Track and monitor Quality issues from Technicians, providing details to the Supervisor/Manager as they arise.
- Ensures all areas of the facility perform daily 5s and is in a “tour ready” condition.
- Verifies all tool calibrations are compliant. Return for calibration when necessary.
- Maintain and know where government assets are on the floor at all times.
- Work with Manufacturing Engineering as necessary to document changes to the floor.
- Analyzes work orders and blueprints to determine information such as material to be used, type of operations, and sequence of operations required.
- Monitors usage and supply of all production materials and tooling; reorders when necessary.
- Interfaces with production planning to help prevent material and equipment shortages.
- Assists, when requested, in interviewing prospective Technicians.
- Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product. Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency.
- Maintains professionalism and provides positive communication when dealing with customers etc.
- Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Supports Weekly Production Meetings.
- Fabricates, assembles, and installs simple laboratory and commercial equipment or experimental apparatus.
- Operates lab and experimental equipment; collects and summarizes data.
- Cleans, adjusts and replaces parts on lab and experimental equipment.
- Sets up and checks out semi-routine experiments and tests according to pre-arranged procedures; records experimental data.
- Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
- Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
- Performs housekeeping and cleanup duties as required.

Job Qualifications:
- Typically requires associate degree or equivalent with two or more years of experience. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
- Must be able to work with common hand tools and operate laboratory equipment.
- Must have the capability to perform complex assignments with little or no direction.
- Ability and willingness to work on systems which have unusual conditions such as high pressure, high voltage, high energy, cryogens, or radioactive materials.
- Knowledge of computer operations and applications pertinent to the field required.
