The Truck Driver / Shipping Associate is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of materials, shipment preparation, inventory support, and shipping/receiving operations. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate documentation, ensuring compliance with DOT regulations, and supporting overall warehouse and manufacturing operations.
The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain a valid CDL Class A license and comply with all DOT regulations and traffic laws.
- Complete daily driver inspections, maintain driver logs, and ensure all transportation equipment is properly maintained.
- Safely operate company vehicles across state lines as required.
- Load and unload trailers using a forklift and other material handling equipment.
- Prepare shipments accurately and complete all required shipping documentation and barcode labeling.
- Support inventory control processes, including FIFO procedures and part number verification.
- Assist Shipping & Receiving operations as needed.
- Operate forklifts safely and follow all forklift operating procedures and speed regulations.
- Ensure all work areas remain clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
- Read, understand, and follow all work instructions and operating procedures.
- Properly complete all tags and required documentation, including NCM tags.
- Demonstrate knowledge of proper truck loading and general shipping principles.
- Deliver empty dunnage to designated locations as required.
- Immediately report all accidents, incidents, and safety concerns.
- Support environmental compliance initiatives, including SPCC documentation requirements.
- Maintain a professional appearance, positive attitude, and strong work ethic.
- Work overtime as needed to support business operations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A license required
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- High school diploma or GED required
- Manufacturing and/or shipping & receiving experience preferred
- Forklift experience preferred; certification required upon hire
- Basic computer skills required
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
Working Conditions
This position operates within a foundry/manufacturing environment and involves exposure to:
- High noise levels
- Heat and moving equipment
- Industrial hazards, including molten metal
Required personal protective equipment (PPE) includes eye, ear, foot, and burn protection.
Equipment used may include:
- Semi-truck and trailer
- Forklift/tow motor
- Electronic scales
- Manual pallet jacks
- Computers and office equipment
- Service carts and hand tools
