What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction shop manager position at General Acid Proofing?
Role:
Own shop readiness. Materials, equipment, and layout are expected to be staged, organized, and job-ready with minimal supervision. This role requires someone who can anticipate needs and keep operations moving efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain shop order and workflow (5S mindset)
- Stage tools, materials, and equipment for upcoming jobs with accuracy
- Handle, store, and prep fiberglass materials safely
- Perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance on equipment
- Build and organize job piles for mobilization
- Track and maintain inventory
Requirements:
- 2 years in an industrial/shop environment (fiberglass, coatings, construction, or similar)
- Ability to work independently and stay ahead of production needs
- Strong mechanical aptitude; proficient with hand and power tools
- Physically capable (50 lbs, full-day movement)
- Reliable and consistent attendance
Preferred:
- Fiberglass or coatings experience
- Forklift experience
- Experience supporting field crews
Environment:
Industrial shop setting with exposure to dust, resins, and equipment. PPE required.
Compensation:
Based on experience, with opportunity for advancement. We will offer an insurance stipend after the 90 days
Expectation:
This role requires initiative and ownership. If you need constant direction to stay productive, this position will not be a fit.
Pay: From $23.00 per hour
