What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Field Service Representative III position at Generac?
The Generator Field Service Technician is responsible for providing on-site troubleshooting, repair, warranty/campaign service, preventative maintenance, and equipment modifications of Generac industrial products. This position requires 100% travel; fleet vehicle provided. No overnight travel is anticipated. Overtime is not promised or required, but during mass storms and outages management may require additional help for afterhours calls beyond the standing on-call schedule.

The employee is constantly required to walk, squat, turn/twist, crouch, reach, stand, balance, climb/descend ladders, stairs, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl, and see, talk, hear, and smell. The employee is constantly required to stand on variable work surfaces.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- 6 years servicing and troubleshooting of Emergency Power Supply Systems (EPSS)
- Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- 8 years servicing and troubleshooting of Emergency Power Supply Systems (EPSS)
- Perform technical skills including but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, troubleshooting and repair of generators
- Read and interpret operational manuals, electrical schematics, universal generator literature, and work orders to perform required maintenance and/or repairs
- Detect faulty operations, defective material and report them and any other unusual situations to the service manager in a timely manner
- Stays current on NFPA and State regulations for EPSS
- Conducting equipment commissioning for the industrial and MPS products
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of generators both during normal working hours and after-hours, weekends and holidays as directed
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance service and/or repairs of generators
- Other Duties as assigned
- Working knowledge of mechanical design, AC and DC circuitry, power generation, wiring schematics, and connection diagrams
- Understand components and operation of an electrical distribution system
- Excellent troubleshooting skills, the ability to make independent decisions, and work with minimal supervision
- Experienced in Electronics, Electromechanical Technology
- Knowledge of power generation; light tower, pumps, and heating products

- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Extreme weather conditions, as well as noisy and confined environments are additional exposures.
- Daily road travel is monitored by vehicle GPS.
- Random Drug/other testing or data collection which may be required to meet customer site access requirements.
- Strict adherence to proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while working in the field, which may include: eye and hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, gloves, hard hats, ESD/spark/fire resistant uniform, or face shields.
