2026 Summer Intern - Scientific Learning Program Specialist, gRED Learning and Development

Department Summary

At Genentech, the Research and Early Development (gRED) group is the engine of our innovation, comprised of the brilliant minds responsible for groundbreaking science. But even the best minds need to keep growing.

We are looking for a Scientific Learning Program Specialist to join our vibrant gRED Learning & Development team reporting to the Learner Impact Lead within gRED L&D Team. As the Scientific Learning Program Specialist Intern, you will play a critical role in elevating the scientific capabilities of this community. Your mission is to design, deliver, and operationalize impactful learning experiences that strengthen scientific excellence across gRED.

This is a rare opportunity to sit at the intersection of Science, Learning and Technology. You will step into a high-visibility role where you serve as the primary point of contact for US-based Scientific Content Learning Program—ensuring high-quality learning sessions, excellent participant experience, and data-driven improvements that directly contribute to a culture of continuous learning. You will not only learn how enterprise learning programs are designed and measured, but you will also have the autonomy to drive engagement and present your impact to leadership at the end of your tenure.

This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on-site.

The Opportunity

  • Own the Operational Excellence of the Program
Manage all logistics for 30–40 learning sessions, plan the yearly learning schedule with the L&D team, optimize timing across time zones, and maintain a consistent schedule that maximizes attendance.

  • Become the "Face" of gRED Scientific Learning Programs
Act as the primary moderator for US sessions, coordinate with the L&D team and partners, introduce speakers, facilitate Q&A, manage virtual/hybrid sessions, configure sessions in the LMS, and troubleshoot technical or setup issues.

  • Drive Learner Engagement & Awareness
Promote sessions through internal communication campaigns (Slack, email, intranet), monitor participation, and adjust strategies to maximize engagement among target audiences.

  • Transform Feedback into Action
Collect attendance and survey data, analyze metrics, provide clear reports and recommendations, and identify ways to improve engagement and session quality.

  • Curate a High-Value Content Library
Edit session recordings and manage the content repository to maintain a high-quality, up-to-date on-demand learning library for scientists.

Program Highlights

  • Intensive 6 months full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

  • Program start dates are May/June 2026.

  • A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.

  • Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

  • Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

  • You will manage business-critical projects, not busy work.

  • Build connections across functions and present your key learnings to leadership.
