Plastic Surgery OR Assistant
An exceptional opportunity for a Surgical Technician, First Assistant, or Registered Nurse to join the office of Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. Gene Sloan in Little Rock, AR. This is a 100% cosmetic surgery practice – breast augmentation, breast lift, breast reduction; abdominoplasty; rhinoplasty; blepharoplasty; facelift. Primarily assist in surgery 2-3 days a week and work in clinic an additional 1-2 days a week if full time position desired. All surgery is performed in an Accredited Facility. OR Responsibilities Include:
- Function as a personal Surgical Assistant to Plastic Surgeon in OR 2-3 days a week.
- The ability to suture meticulously or quickly learn to do so is an absolute must.
- Perform duties such as handling of instruments, holding retractors, cutting sutures, and maintaining a sterile field.
- Perform all work following accepted standards of sanitation, safety, and proper handling techniques, including sterilization and high level disinfection procedures.
- Help manage implant inventory to ensure correct breast implants, facial implants, mesh, and garments are available for patients.
- Plan for and help prepare necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment needed for surgical procedures. Develop knowledge and technical skills in their care and use.
- Assist with positioning and draping the patient for the proper procedure. Help other team members with room cleaning and turnover.
- Ensure that proper medical clearance for surgery is obtained.
- Develop and support effective communication with patients, medical staff, and surgery center personnel.
If Clinic Days Are Desired, Clinic Responsibilities Will Include:
- Accompany physician while seeing patients. Complete chart entries (EMR) for physician exams.
- Post-op dressing care. Suture and drain removal.
- Answer calls from patients who have pre-op and post-op questions.
- Send Prescriptions via E- Prescribe.
- Take “Before & After” photos of patients.
- Draw lab and perform EKG.
- Act with integrity and confidentiality when dealing with patient and/or clinical information.
Requirements:
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technician and/or training program.
- Licensure in the state of Arkansas as an RN.
- Medical office experience is desirable for clinic applicants.
- Proficient computer skills – MS Office, EMR.
- Suturing experience is highly advantageous.
- Previous experience in a surgical or clinical environment preferred.
- Meticulous attention to cleanliness and sterility.
