POSITION OVERVIEW
Performs molecular genetic assays and general laboratory maintenance for the Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) team.
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Carries out complex laboratory procedures such as library preparations, amplification, enrichment, library dilutions, and loading of sequencers for the NGS team.
- Operates and maintains sophisticated laboratory equipment, including Beckman, Tecan, Echo, and Mantis automated liquid handlers; Agilent Tapestation; and Next Generation Sequencing Instrumentation.
- Assists with special projects for validation and implementation of new NGS products
- Maintains records of laboratory work and sample tracking
- Follows all laboratory protocols and policies, including quality control and quality system activities, and documents appropriately all records, deviations, and corrective actions as required.
- Monitors and maintains supply inventories and reagent stocks.
- Proactively identifies and assists with troubleshooting issues with assays, equipment, or procedures on the pipeline.
- Contributes to organization and cleanliness of the team and lab workspaces.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- 4- year Bachelor degree or higher in a Biological Science or related field; or equivalent education and experience meeting requirements of regulatory agencies
- Computer literacy of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally verbally and in writing
- 3 years of general laboratory experience with molecular biology techniques (e.g. PCR, qPCR, NGS, microarrays arrays, DNA extractions, capillary electrophoresis, etc.)
- Previous experience with Next Generation Sequencing platforms and procedures
