Gencor is the leading manufacturer of asphalt plants, soil remediation plants, combustion systems and heat transfer systems to the road and highway construction industry. Specifically looking for a Controls Engineer for a 6 month project and could possibly become a full-time position. MUST be in the Orlando, FL (or within a 50 mile radius) area.
Role Description
The Controls Engineer is responsible for the continuous development of Gencor’s controls software solutions. Major duties include development, documentation and maintenance of programmable plant process & sub-system controls, including HMI utilizing VB.NET, PLC systems (Studio 5000), and database management (SQL) with the focus on HMI applications. The candidate will be responsible to manage and track all assigned projects, including coordination of activities with production and quality control departments. This position will report to the Controls Engineering Manager.
Responsibilities
- Development and updating software libraries as required for both new features and software optimization
- Design and coding of software utilizing C#, VB.NET, FactoryTalk and Studio 5000
- Ensure application performance, uptime and maintain high standards of code quality and design
- Design and implement secure and scalable SQL database solutions
- Create and maintain application documentation
- Work with the design team to support upcoming system requirements
- Ensuring interoperability with other code modules within the system
- In-house validation and customer implementation/start-up support
- Troubleshoot environment, connectivity and integrations
- Other duties as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
- 5 years of professional experience in developing and maintaining applications
- 2 years of experience in HMI/PLC programming of industrial machinery
- Experience with Rockwell Automation control systems is a plus
- Familiarity with SCADA/HMI programming platforms such as Factory Talk
- Ability to program in multiple languages, including ladder logic, structured text, and VB scripting
- Familiarity with JavaScript is a plus
- Ability to multi-task effectively and thrive in a team environment
- Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform extended periods of sedentary work, including sitting for prolonged durations.
- Ability to use a computer keyboard, mouse, and standard office equipment.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, technical documents, and computer screens for extended periods.
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form.
- Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, and reach in office or industrial environments.
