Commercial Service Technician

Job Summary

The Commercial Service Technician is responsible for responding to service calls within hospital and healthcare environments, assessing conditions in real time, and troubleshooting construction-related issues to determine and perform the appropriate scope of work. This role requires strong hands-on experience in carpentry, containment, and general construction, with a deep understanding of the unique requirements, safety standards, and sensitivity of working in active healthcare facilities.

The ideal candidate is solution-oriented, calm under pressure, and capable of making informed decisions on-site while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to service calls at hospitals and healthcare facilities
• Assess site conditions and troubleshoot issues in real time to determine necessary repairs or corrective actions
• Perform hands-on construction and repair work, including carpentry and finishes.
• Install, modify, and maintain temporary and permanent containment systems (ICRA barriers, dust control, negative air, etc.)
• Ensure all work complies with healthcare construction standards, infection control protocols, and safety requirements
• Communicate clearly with hospital staff, project managers, and internal teams regarding scope, schedule, and findings
• Document work performed, materials used, and any follow-up recommendations
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area at all times
• Identify potential risks or additional repair needs and escalate appropriately
• Represent the company professionally while working in sensitive, patient-care environments

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong background in carpentry and general commercial construction
• Experience with containment systems and infection control practices in healthcare settings
• Ability to troubleshoot construction issues independently and make sound decisions on-site
• Knowledge of healthcare construction requirements, including working in occupied spaces
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Comfortable working in active hospital environments with minimal disruption to operations
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience working in hospitals, clinics, or other healthcare facilities
• Familiarity with Safety protocols
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
• Experience responding to emergency or after-hours service calls

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver construction materials and tools
• Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and work in confined spaces for extended periods
• Ability to work in active construction and healthcare environments

Job Type: Full Time

Schedule: 8-hour shift Monday to Friday with potential weekly and weekend overtime 

Work location: Multiple locations throughout New Hampshire/MA, Rhode Island, with home office being West Bridgewater, MA
