Summary:

The Operator works in the Production department and will learn over time multiple areas of responsibility in the Production process.  This may include Shredders, Granulators, Bagging, Tower and in the Millrooms.

  • Starting pay is at $18.69 an hour, (plus an additional $1.44 per hour if Quarterly Bonuses are met at 100%) and overtime at 1.5 times wage and a night shift differential pay of $0.75 per hour when working during the hours of 7PM – 7AM
  • Quarterly bonus based on meeting department goals. 
  •  We go by a pay ladder, with certain steps/skills of the plant learned there is a compensation structure. 

After 30 days of employment:

  • Genan will provide all uniforms and the cleaning of those uniforms

At the first of the month following 30 days of employment:

  • Genan provides Medical, Dental and Vision coverage paid at 100% by the company for the employee

After 90 days of employment:

  • You will be eligible to participate in the Genan 401k plan, in which the company contributes up to 3%.
  • Life insurance is provided at no cost to you at 1x your annual salary with a $50,000 max 
  • Short Term Disability and Long Term Disability will be provided and paid 100% by Genan
  • You begin earning PTO (Paid Time Off) the 1st of the month following 90 days of employment.   It is accrued on a bi-weekly basis with a total accrual of 15 days for the first year.  Pro-rated according to your start date.
  • You may elect additional life insurance and Critical Injury insurance at your own expense for you and your dependents.
  • Prescription Safety Glasses and protective footwear are also reimbursed at set amounts annually and necessary PPE provided by Genan
Qualifications:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Please read the full description before applying)

  1. Operate and understand functionality of shredders, granulators, mills, screening and vibration machines
  2. Understand the production flow of materials
  3. Assist with plant change overs
  4. Monitor and adjust equipment to meet product specifications
  5. Troubleshoot minor issues with equipment to maintain operation
  6. Report any operating or mechanical faults or issues to supervisor or company reporting system
  7. Ensure production processes and machinery are maintained in good, safe efficient working condition.  
  8. Perform regular equipment maintenance procedures to ensure production capacity and quality.
  9. Conduct quality control checks
  10. Operate fork lift to move product in preparation for processing and after
  11. Maintains work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows safety regulations
  12. Understand and follow all established safety, health, quality, procedures and practices.
  13. Comply with OSHA safety and health rules

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  • Ability to communicate clearly in English, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to follow company operating procedures, safety rules and ISO requirements.
  • Understanding of production procedures and processes
  • Ability to read and understand written operating instructions and work order requirements.
  • Ability to operate all department equipment safely
  • Ability to drive a forklift and previous certification
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Problem solving and trouble shooting skills – Ability to identify, troubleshoot and communicate with management
  • Mechanical Aptitude
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and also independently with little direct supervision within the parameters of instruction, processes, rules, safety procedures and accepted practices.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High school or Equivalent
  • Process Manufacturing a plus
  • Previous experience as an Operator in manufacturing environment (2 years minimum)
  • Forklift Operation (2 Years)
  • Cable Truck Operation a plus
  • Experience troubleshooting manufacturing equipment (2 years minimum)
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proven history of punctuality and reliability
  • Work authorization required

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS, WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HOURS OF WORK

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to airborne particles, and vibration.
  • The employee is exposed to heat in production – No A/C environment
  • Lifting, overhead work, standing, climbing stairs, climbing stairs while carrying and moving throughout most of the day – physical stamina required
  • The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud and PPE must be worn
  • May be required to work in confined space for short periods of time. 
  • This is a full-time position
  • Overtime may be required.
  • On Call schedule will be required, and participation is mandatory
  • Must wear uniforms, protective clothing and safety shoes.
  • Every potential new hire MUST successfully complete a paid working interview with a shift supervisor, pre-hire physical, drug screen and Job Placement Assessment.
  • Must have reliable transportation and ability to commute from home to work on time as required by team schedule and shift assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must repetitively lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must pass pulmonary fit test for proper respiratory protection.
