Commercial Carpenter - Immediate Start (Westport, CT Area)

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Commercial Carpenter to join our team for an immediate start in. This dynamic role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of commercial construction projects, including new builds, renovations, and remodeling. As a Commercial Carpenter, you will be responsible for interpreting construction plans, utilizing hand and power tools, and ensuring high-quality craftsmanship on every project. Duties

• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and construction plans to accurately execute carpentry tasks.
• Measure, cut, assemble, and install wood and other construction materials using hand tools and power tools for woodworking.
• Perform framing, drywall installation, door hanging, trim carpentry, flooring installation, tile laying, and stucco application.
• Operate woodworking machines safely to produce precise components for residential or commercial projects.
• Install fixtures such as cabinets, counters, moldings, rebar in concrete forms, and other building elements according to specifications.
• Conduct heavy lifting tasks safely while adhering to power tool safety protocols; handle rebar installation and plastering as needed.
• Assist with remodeling projects by performing tasks like caulking, mold remediation, metal stud framing, flooring upgrades, and fixture installation.

Requirements

• Proven experience in commercial or residential carpentry with a strong understanding of construction estimating and site procedures.
• Ability to read blueprints accurately and interpret technical drawings for precise execution of tasks.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools for woodworking, woodworking machines, and other carpentry equipment.
• Knowledge of construction site safety practices related to power tools and heavy lifting activities.
• Experience with framing (including metal stud framing), drywall installation, door hanging, trim carpentry, flooring installation, tile laying, stucco work, and rebar installation.
• Familiarity with construction materials such as wood construction materials and other building supplies used in commercial projects.
• Strong physical stamina for heavy lifting and working at heights or in confined spaces; ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret construction plans accurately.
• Handyman experience or additional skills such as plastering or mold remediation are a plus.

Responsibilities:

Finish carpentry: doors, frames, hardware, trim, base, casing

Install and fit millwork and fixtures

Patch, prep, and repair as part of punch list close-out

Work alongside painting crews in an active commercial space

Keep the job site clean, safe, and organized

Qualifications:

2 years commercial carpentry experience (retail / tenant fit-out a plus)

Own hand tools; access to miter saw / table saw preferred

Reliable transportation to the Westport, CT area

Able to read basic drawings and follow punch lists

On time, good attitude, drug-free worksite
