What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician-Day Shift position at GEN-Y Hitch?
Job Overview
- GEN-Y Hitch is seeking a highly skilled Lead Maintenance Technician to ensure the maximum uptime of our vertically integrated manufacturing facility. This role is unique: you will be the primary steward of our Powder Coating Line (Blasters, Booths, and Ovens) while providing expert mechanical and electrical support for our Steel & Aluminum Fabrication equipment, including Lasers, Weld Cells, Mills, and Saws.
Duties
1. Finishing System Specialist (Powder Coat)--Highly needed
- Blasters: Perform routine maintenance on centrifugal blast wheels, liners, and dust collection systems to ensure proper surface profile for coating.
- Booths & Application: Maintain powder application guns, recovery systems, and final filters to ensure consistent mil-thickness and minimize waste.
- Ovens: Calibrate and troubleshoot gas-fired or infrared ovens. Monitor heat curves and airflow to ensure proper cure cycles and prevent finish failures.
2. Metal Fabrication Equipment Support
- CNC & Manual Machining: Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on Mills and Lathes (Steel/Aluminum).
- Lasers & Saws: Maintain optics, slat tables, and mechanical drives for fiber/CO2 lasers; service hydraulic and cold saws.
3. Preventative & Predictive Maintenance
- Execute a rigorous PM schedule to minimize unplanned downtime.
- Diagnose complex hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical (PLC) issues.
- Maintain an organized inventory of critical spare parts (nozzles, filters, sensors, belts).
Skills
- Powder Coating Fluency: Deep understanding of the chemistry and mechanics of pretreatment, blast media, and thermal curing.
- Multi-Material Expertise: Comfortable working on equipment dedicated to both heavy-gauge Steel and high-speed Aluminum fabrication.
- Electrical/Mechanical: Ability to read schematics, troubleshoot 480V 3-phase power, and service gearboxes/bearings.
- Problem Solving: Ability to "hear" a machine failing before it breaks.
- The "Firefighter": You stay calm when a machine goes down mid-shift and can systematically find the root cause.
- Detail-Oriented: You understand that a 5-degree temperature fluctuation in the oven or a clogged nozzle in the blaster ruins the "GEN-Y Finish" our customers expect.
- Safety-First: Mastery of Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) and heavy machinery safety protocols.
