Job Summary
The Bar Manager / Team Lead plays a key leadership role in the daily operations of the 1911 Tasting Room, Retail, and Tavern space. This position is responsible for ensuring a seamless and exceptional guest experience while overseeing bar operations, managing staff, and maintaining the highest standards of product knowledge, service, and compliance.
Operations & Inventory Responsible for receiving, storing, and retailing of 1911 Establishments and Beak & Skiff products. Monitors inventory levels and proactively communicates supply needs to ensure consistent product availability. Assists with monthly inventory responsibilities. Oversees proper stock rotation, organization, and storage in accordance with health and safety standards.
Staff Supervision & Leadership Directly supervises bartenders and tasting room staff during assigned shifts, providing guidance, support, and on-the-floor coaching. Assists in training new team members on service standards, product knowledge, and operational procedures. Leads by example to foster a positive, team-oriented work environment.
Guest Experience Champions a customer-first culture by maintaining high service standards and addressing guest concerns or feedback in a professional and timely manner. Ensures the tasting room, retail, and tavern space remain clean, welcoming, and properly stocked throughout each shift.
Compliance & Standards Ensures all bar and food service operations are conducted in compliance with applicable health codes, food safety regulations, and alcohol service laws. Assists in upholding company policies and procedures across all areas of operation.
Schedule & Availability: This is a part-time role, with the exception of peak season where hours will increase. Our operation runs Thursday–Sunday for the majority of the year, with full 7-day-a-week hours during peak season. Open availability and flexibility to work within these windows is required.
Rate: $18.00/Hour Tips
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Include but are not limited to
- Monitors inventory of beverages and supplies to ensure adequate stock is maintained.
- Assists Operations Manager with weekly orders of 1911 product for Apple Hill Tasting Room, Tavern, Café and Retail. Communicates additional bar supplies needed through the Operations Manager and/or Executive Chef.
- Responsible for administering stock control.
- Oversees operational flow of the 1911 Tavern, Tasting Room, and Retail, plus outdoor spaces, when applicable.
- Coordinates department employee work placement. Supervises and delegates responsibilities as needed.
- Oversee cleanliness of the bar areas, adhering to local and state health laws and regulations.
- Provides employee training to ensure excellent customer service and protocol regarding NYS laws.
- Resolve customer complaints promptly, in accordance with company guidelines.
- Assists with Apple Hill opening or closing procedures.
Minimum Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:
- High School diploma required.
- Minimum one year experience as bartender.
- TIPS trained or equivalent training preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of education and work experience will be considered.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Computer proficiency including word processing, data entry, spreadsheets, and generating reports using standard software applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Extensive working knowledge of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
- Knowledge of local and state regulations related to alcohol service and health code compliance.
- Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
- Customer service oriented.
- Ability to work productively in a fast paced environment.
Physical Exertion:
Moderate Work- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Work may include loading and unloading cases of product, setting up product, and lifting, lowering, and moving product.
Environmental Conditions:
The frequency and duration ofindoor and outdoorwork may vary based on position, location, and operational needs.
Indoor Work- Indoor environments may include exposure to temperature variations, such as unheated or non-air-conditioned areas.
Outdoor Work- Outdoor work may involve exposure to weather conditions and seasonal temperature changes.
