Job Summary
Reporting to the VP, Finance, the Director, Finance is responsible for the day-to-day management and continuous improvement of the Company's accounting and finance operations. The role oversees financial close and reporting activities, finance operations, treasury administration, financial controls, budget administration, and finance systems. The Director partners with functional leaders and external service providers to deliver accurate, timely, and well-controlled financial information and executes priorities established by the VP, Finance*. Responsibilities include:
- Manage accounting operations and coordinate the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including oversight of external accounting resources and review of supporting schedules.
- Oversee finance operations, including accounts payable, purchasing, corporate card and expense administration, vendor onboarding, payment controls, and related workflows.
- Prepare and review management reporting, cash reporting, budget-to-actual analyses, and other financial information for the VP, Finance and business leaders.
- Maintain and improve finance policies, SOPs, approval matrices, reconciliations, and internal controls that support compliance and audit readiness.
- Coordinate day-to-day relationships with auditors, tax advisors, banks, insurers, and other finance service providers under the direction of the VP, Finance.
- Serve as the operational owner for finance systems, data integrity, and process improvement, including NetSuite, Ramp, and related workflow tools.
- Supervise and develop assigned Finance staff, establish clear work priorities, and ensure consistent execution of recurring finance processes.
*Role will report temporarily to the COO until the VP, Finance position is filled
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience leading finance operations, accounting oversight, monthly close coordination, financial reporting, and audit/tax coordination.
- Bachelor's degree required; degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred. MBA a plus. 7-10 years of experience.
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial close, account reconciliations, financial reporting, internal controls, and audit support.
- Hands-on experience with accounts payable, procurement and purchasing controls, expense administration, vendor onboarding, cash management, and banking administration.
- Ability to prepare and explain financial reports, budget-to-actual results, cash forecasts, and operational analyses to financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Experience documenting and improving finance policies, SOPs, approval workflows, and control procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to manage staff, coordinate external service providers, prioritize recurring deadlines, and resolve operational issues.
- Strong judgment, attention to detail, organization, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience with ERP and finance workflow systems.
Preferred
- Experience with program or project cost reporting, R&D accounting, cost allocation, or related-party transactions
- NetSuite and Ramp experience.
- Life sciences, biotechnology, healthcare, or another regulated-industry environment.
