Job Summary:
Contractor personnel shall provide operations assistance to LRC Fort Sill, Oklahoma and Gemini Tech Services by operating passenger buses to transport military personnel, DoD civilians, and visitors within and around a military installation. This position ensures safe, timely, and courteous transport while adhering to all Department of Defense (DoD), federal, state, and local regulations. Duties include maintaining trip logs, conducting pre- and post-operational checks, and reporting any issues affecting vehicle operation.
Essential Functions:
- Operate a passenger bus on scheduled and unscheduled routes within and around the military base.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections in accordance with DoD and DOT standards.
- Ensure compliance with installation access control procedures, including verifying passenger identification as required.
- Maintain daily driver logs and trip documentation accurately.
- Provide safe loading and unloading of passengers, including individuals with disabilities or special needs.
- Monitor weather and traffic conditions to ensure safe driving practices.
- Communicate with dispatchers and other base transportation personnel as needed.
- Fuel, clean, and perform basic maintenance checks on vehicles.
- Respond to emergency situations or detours promptly and appropriately.
- Report any vehicle defects or incidents immediately to supervisors.
- Adhere to all safety and operational regulations.
Pay Rate:
Hourly pay rate is dependent on full or part time employment. Company offers a full array of Health and Welfare benefits, or additional pay in lieu of benefits.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of two (2) years of professional driving experience, preferably operating large passenger buses.
- Valid state-issued Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class B or higher with passenger (P) endorsement.
- Must meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and medical requirements.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the United States.
- Ability to pass a background check and obtain base access credentials.
Certifications & Clearance:
- Valid CDL with Passenger Endorsement.
- Current DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable background check for access to the military installation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Knowledge of traffic laws, DoD transportation regulations, and safe vehicle operation standards.
- Skill in operating buses in various traffic, road, and weather conditions.
- Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in high-pressure situations.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills when interacting with military personnel and civilians.
- Ability to read and interpret road signs, base maps, and route instructions.
- Ability to perform basic vehicle checks and minor troubleshooting.
- Dependable, punctual, and detail-oriented.
- Knowledge of base access protocols and operational security awareness (OPSEC).
Work Environment:
This position involves working outdoors and operating a vehicle in various weather and traffic conditions. May be required to work weekends, holidays, and irregular hours depending on mission needs.
Physical & Mental Demands:
Must be able to sit for extended periods, operate a vehicle safely, perform repetitive movements, and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Must maintain focus and situational awareness while driving.
