Job Summary
A Wire Room Operator EDM’s profiles into dies using wire machines and programs provided to blueprint specifications.
Essential Job Functions:
- Selects die from stock or previously laid out blank on which pattern is to be wired.
- Checks die thickness, diameter, pinholes, keyways, pads, etc. according to blueprint specifications.
- Lays out die and completes inspection sheet.
- Checks wire size and machine squareness; indicates die, clamps die and checks that top of die is flat.
- Verifies position of die and mirroring are correct.
- Runs dry-run program, reloads program, and cuts die.
- When finished, inspects slug for non-conforming marks; pins out die to check for abnormalities.
