Title: EHS Specialist

Job Requirements:
- Associate's Degree, in related field or equivalent education, and work experience may be combined to meet this requirement.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to communicate, implement, and coordinate comprehensive health and safety accident prevention programs.
- Ability to organize a multitude of simultaneous projects and ability to lead and direct teams and/or committees.
- Excellent customer relations, communication, and team building skills.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office).
- Knowledge of ISO 14001, EGLE, EPA, and State and Federal regulations.
- Bachelor's Degree in occupational safety and health, Safety Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of safety related experience.
- Knowledge of regulations established by MIOSHA and OSHA.
- In-depth knowledge of plant operations.
- Advanced problem-solving skills.

Essential Job Functions:
- Assist in developing, planning, and implementing environmental procedures and reporting in compliance with ISO 14001 regulations, as well as other local, state and federal regulations and company procedure.
- Maintain awareness of the applicable safety and health regulations and make recommendations for implementation.
- Audit the facility, equipment and processes in order to gage operational effectiveness to recognize and correct potential hazards and ensure environmental regulation compliance.
- Complete, coordinate, and maintain training for safety programs (hazardous communication/SDS, energy control power lockout, emergency response, etc.)
- Lead plant safety compliance inspections including hazard analysis, safe work procedures, written reports and recommendations.
- Develop controls for identified hazards and coordinate the implementation of controls from results of hazard analysis (Design in safety, JSA, etc.); measure and evaluate the effectiveness of hazard control systems, policies, and procedures; recommend changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate workplace accidents and injuries.
- Organize and conduct training programs for new hire orientation to include job safety analysis, personal protective equipment evaluations, and on the job training oversight.
- Lead accident and incident investigations.
- Lead safety committee activities.
- Develop and review plant specific programs.
- Ensure corporate compliance calendar is current and maintained. Assist with environmental compliance programs related to hazardous waste, air permitting, water pollution control, etc.
- Attend educational workshops and training sessions as required.
- Perform other related duties as directed that correspond to the overall function of this position.
- Follow all TS-16949 / ISO-14001 policies and procedures.
- Attend educational workshops and training sessions as required.
- Perform duties of the management representative outlined in the Environmental Management System manual and maintain the Environmental Management System manual, SWPPP, SPCC and ensure proper implementation of all related procedures.
