ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Construction Planner to join our team supporting the Los Alamos National Laboratory! This position is full-time and will be based out of Los Alamos, New Mexico.

Responsibilities

• Develops and/or reviews work packages including time, material, and labor estimates, written step-by-step work instructions, procedures, and/or safety and testing requirements for the implementation and control of operations, construction, maintenance, or modification of work activities within a given facility or area.

• Resolves work restraints and brings work packages to final closure.

• Ensures work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures are met.

• Interprets various mechanical and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics.

• Understands legal requirements and environmental impacts affecting work control and planning.

• Conducts research, investigates alternative solutions, and recommends solutions on problems affecting work control and planning.

• Conceptualizes and communicates major elements of work control and planning to both technical and non-technical personnel.

• Utilizes a computerized work management system in maintaining and tracking work planning activities.

• Prepares and presents of work control reports.

Requirements

• Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor’s Degree and 8 years of relevant experience or; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

• Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.

• Clearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.

• Must have knowledge of work control and facility policies, practices, and procedures.

• Must have a working knowledge of and experience with work control, materials management, construction and/or various maintenance disciplines.

• Experience with construction documents and reading blueprints.

• Must have experience with Microsoft Word.

• Prefer working experience and/or knowledge with Asset Suites and Mobile Work Package (MWP).

Desired Skills

• Electrical, mechanical or civil engineering experience is highly desired.

• Experience with schematics is highly desired.

The NNSA's Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), located in Los Alamos, New Mexico, is a design laboratory responsible for the safety and reliability of the nuclear explosives package in nuclear weapons. This lab possesses unique capabilities in neutron scattering, enhanced surveillance, radiography, and plutonium science and engineering (energy.gov).
