Aircraft Detailing Lead Technician

Gem State Aviation Services, LLC
Boise, ID Full Time
POSTED ON 10/17/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 2/13/2027

About the Opportunity

Do you take pride in hands-on work, care about doing things the right way, and enjoy helping a team perform at its best?

RealClean Aircraft Detailing is launching in the Greater Treasure Valley, and we're looking for a Lead Aircraft Detailing Technician to help build and lead our founding crew.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll work alongside the crew while helping manage job execution, safety, quality, training and the customer experience at airports and client sites.

Selected founding-team members will receive professional aircraft-detailing training, including one week of paid, hands-on training at RealClean's training facility in Chicago, with company-paid travel expenses. Aircraft detailing experience is preferred but not required for the right candidate. Strong experience leading teams in automotive detailing, aviation, skilled trades, maintenance or another hands-on service environment may translate well to this role.

What You'll Do

As Lead Aircraft Detailing Technician, you'll work directly with the crew while taking ownership of the quality and execution of each job. Responsibilities include:

● Lead a crew of Aircraft Detailing Technicians on-site and help organize work so jobs are completed safely, efficiently and to RealClean standards

● Perform aircraft detailing services alongside the crew, including exterior wet/dry washing, interior detailing, leather care, carpet and upholstery extraction, brightwork, de-ice boot care, paint revitalization and protective treatments as trained and qualified

● Conduct pre-job reviews, assign tasks and help the crew understand the service scope and customer expectations

● Monitor workmanship throughout each job and complete final quality-control inspections before aircraft are returned to the customer

● Reinforce standard operating procedures, safety protocols, proper product use and required PPE

● Help train and coach new team members and support their progression through RealClean service qualifications

● Communicate professionally with customers, pilots, FBO personnel, airport staff and other aviation partners

● Communicate job status, staffing needs, issues and opportunities to Gem State ownership/operations leadership

● Help maintain the service vehicle, equipment, inventory and work areas so the crew is ready for each assignment

● Complete required job documentation and promptly escalate any safety, quality or aircraft-condition concern

Paid Professional Training

We'll invest in making sure you know how to lead and perform this work correctly.

Selected founding-team members will attend one week of paid RealClean aircraft-detailing training in Chicago. We will cover required travel expenses for company-sponsored training. Training also includes required online coursework and continued hands-on development after returning to Idaho. You will learn RealClean's aircraft-specific detailing methods, safety practices, products, equipment and quality standards.

Lead Technicians are expected to become proficient across core services and to help reinforce proper methods with the rest of the crew. More advanced and specialty services are performed only after the appropriate training and qualification.

Schedule

  • This will be a full-time position, with a minimum of 30 paid hours per week guaranteed during the initial launch period, progressing toward a regular 40-hour workweek as customer volume grows.
  • Day shift and some weekend availability required
  • Schedule may vary depending on aircraft arrival and customer needs
  • Additional hours may be available based on customer demand
  • Overtime is paid in accordance with applicable law for hours worked over 40 in a workweek.
  • Occasional travel within our service territory, including McCall, may be required. Company-required travel expenses are paid.

40 hours (5 days) of PTO annually, accrued each pay period

What We're Looking For

You may be a great fit if you:

● Lead by example and are comfortable working alongside the team rather than only directing others

● Take genuine pride in quality and notice details other people miss

● Are dependable, organized and able to keep a crew focused and productive

● Can give clear direction, constructive feedback and hands-on coaching

● Follow detailed procedures consistently and hold others to the same standard

● Stay calm and professional when schedules change or problems need to be solved quickly

● Treat expensive customer property with exceptional care

● Communicate well with customers, pilots, airport personnel and team members

● Are safety-conscious and willing to stop or escalate work when something does not look right

● Are comfortable learning new technical processes and continuing to develop your skills

Previous leadership experience in aviation, automotive detailing, skilled trades, maintenance, cleaning services or another hands-on service business is strongly preferred. Aircraft detailing experience is a plus, but not required for the right candidate.

Physical Requirements

Aircraft detailing is physically demanding. You must be able to:

  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Stand and walk for extended periods
  • Frequently bend, kneel, squat and reach
  • Work safely from approved ladders and elevated work platforms
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions
  • Perform repetitive cleaning, polishing and detailing tasks
  • Wear required personal protective equipment

Requirements

● Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

● Legal authorization to work in the United States

● Ability to successfully complete required background screening

● Ability to pass FAA-mandated drug and alcohol testing

● Compliance with Gem State's Drug-Free Workplace Policy and applicable FAA Drug and Alcohol Testing

● Ability to complete all required RealClean training

● Reliable transportation to the Treasure Valley work location

● Flexibility for occasional early morning, evening, weekend and travel assignments
