Your essential duties will include but will not be limited to: Direct product distribution activities to achieve high level of efficiency and excellent service. Review and analyze inventory, product cost, cost of sales and gross sales; prepare reports for management review. Ensure product quality by visiting various growers, wholesalers and markets; negotiate with vendors for best possible costs, special promotions, terms and discounts. Review and analyze sales and inventory data to determine appropriate reorder amounts. Coordinate with Marketing department on product for promotion and special; ensure sufficient product inventory for seasonal, promotional and sale items. Inspect and approve shipments sent to the Distribution Center; review incoming invoices for accuracy and process for payment. Coordinate with Systems department to ensure product pricing information is accurate. Fulfill special requested orders and follow up with customer upon product arrival. Other related duties and assignments as required. Requirements: High school degree or equivalent with some college experience in retailing and merchandising. Five (5) years’ experience in produce purchasing required. Retail and/or supermarket field experience preferred. Highly proficient computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and outlook email. Knowledge of the food industry and ability to understand buying strategies. Exceptional communication and negotiation abilities. A keen eye for market trends and customer preferences. Proven track record of achieving results and exceeding goals.
