What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN - Registered Nurse - Anesthesia Pre-Surgery position at Geisinger?
Through patient interactions and chart investigation, ensure the readiness of a patient for upcoming surgical or procedural anesthetic. About 70% of the work is either a phone call or a chart review. 30% of the time will be spent seeing patients in clinic.
This role is full-time, 40 hours weekly; Days; 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.

Job Duties:
- Advocate for patient preparedness through continuous communications with surgeons, primary care and specialists as needed.
- Completes preparation of the patient according to defined procedure.
- Completes patient assessment for risks for falls.
- Records appropriate information to monitor patients' needs prior to procedure.
- Provides appropriate patient education to patients and caregivers.
- Adheres to requirements mandated by regulatory agencies.
- Assists with orientation, in-service programs and supervision of nursing students, new staff members, and dedicated staff members.
- Participates in Quality Improvement activities.
- Actively participates in patient safety improvement and management program.
- Assumes responsibility for identifying processes or systems that could potentially lead to errors and adverse events.
- Promptly reports serious events and incidents in accordance with established hospital policy and procedure.
