Job Summary

Geisinger offers outpatient Clinic Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) a $5,000 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates. Geisinger has hundreds of community sites that allows LPNs to work to the top of their license while providing top-notch care in an ambulatory setting. 

Job Duties

The Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) LPN provides primary clinical support to the provider, patient and their family to assist in preparation for anesthetic care day of procedure/surgery. This work is primarily calling patients prior to surgery to ensure they have completed any required testing, such as chest x-rays, EKGs, bloodwork, etc. for their upcoming procedure requiring anesthesia.

$5,000 sign-on bonus for eligible LPN candidates.

Hours: 40 hours weekly; Monday through Friday; Dayshift

Experience: 2 or more years LPN experience is strongly preferred. Previous Pre-Admission Testing, Perioperative, and/or ICU experience is preferred.

Location: Geisinger Multi-Specialty Clinic Olive Street

Job Duties:

  • Conducts patient evaluations by means of chart review and phone calls in effort to properly prepare patients for anesthesia day of procedure/surgery.
  • Follows up on diagnostic testing to ensure completion, accuracy, and filing of same in medical record to ensure continuity and quality of care.
  • Supports patient care by obtaining, scanning, and reviewing documents related to patient preparation.
  • Collaborates and connects with anesthesia colleagues as needed.
  • Supports the work of the clinic, continuity of care, and preparation of the whole patient by forming partnerships with surgical clinics, institutions, primary care clinics and surgical scheduling.
  • Provides direct clinical care as directed by provider.
  • Assists provider in performance of ancillary examinations as directed by provider.
  • Executes and documents ongoing patient communication, as directed by provider, prioritizes communication to the provider, responds to patient questions and requests to ensure efficient use of provider time and timely response to patient's needs.
  • Cleans and sets up examination rooms between cases and preparation of patient - as needed.
  • Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in specific age range on their assigned clinical area.
  • Obtains and documents patient medical history, chief complaint, vital signs, and provides basic medical data base for provider, and prepares patient for examinations.
  • Promotes a clean environment.

Graduate from Specialty Training Program-Nursing (Required)

Experience

Minimum of 3 years-Nursing (Preferred)
