.Landscape Architect/Designer needed for luxury residential and commercial projects throughout Fairfield County Connecticut and Westchester County New York.
The Landscape Architect/Designer will lead the design, planning, and implementation of exterior environments, delivering inspired landscapes that enhance property value and client enjoyment. The position is responsible for collaborating with clients to create site plans, landscape concepts, construction documentation, and overseeing installation.
Responsibilities
- Project Design & Planning: Develop exterior site concepts, detailed landscape designs, and construction plans for residential and commercial projects.
- Client Collaboration: Meet with clients to assess preferences, site opportunities, and budget, translating vision into actionable design solutions.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Work closely with property owners, architects, engineers, contractors, and consultants to ensure project feasibility, integration, and high standards of quality.
- Planting & Material Selection: Specify plant palettes, landscape materials, lighting, and water features appropriate for each project’s aesthetics and sustainability goals.
- Permit & Code Compliance: Prepare, submit, and manage necessary permits, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
- Construction Oversight: Visit sites to monitor progress, provide design clarifications, and enforce quality standards during landscape installation.
- Environmental Stewardship: Incorporate ecological best practices—such as native planting, water management, and sustainable design techniques.
- Presentations: Create materials for client presentations, community approvals, and public review, effectively communicating vision and details.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Environmental Design, or a related field.
- Licensure: State landscape architect license a plus
- Experience: 10 years in luxury residential landscape design. Experience managing high-end installations in NY, CT, strongly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and other design software. Strong knowledge of horticulture, grading, drainage, and construction detailing.
- Communication: Excellent visual, oral, and written communication skills for client interaction, presentations, and team coordination.
- Project Management: Skilled at managing timelines, budgets, and documentation for multiple projects.
- Creativity & Detail: Strong design sensibility combined with attention to technical detail, problem-solving, and innovative thinking.
