About The Role
We’re looking for an experienced People Data & Analytics Lead to manage and leverage people data from Workday and other HR systems to provide business insights. You will create and maintain clear business definitions and a reusable data dictionary to enable trusted HR reporting and seamless downstream integrations. You’ll also apply strong data engineering practices to deliver reliable pipelines and data models, improve automation and observability, and drive continuous improvement.

$104,550.00 - $172,200.00
The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. About The Role
We’re looking for an experienced People Data & Analytics Lead to manage and leverage people data from Workday and other HR systems to provide business insights. You will create and maintain clear business definitions and a reusable data dictionary to enable trusted HR reporting and seamless downstream integrations. You’ll also apply strong data engineering practices to deliver reliable pipelines and data models, improve automation and observability, and drive continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Understand and document People data in Workday and other HR systems, including key entities, relationships, and end-to-end data flows.
- Create and maintain a People data dictionary (business definitions, calculations, lineage, and system-of-record guidance) that HR can use for reporting and integrations.
- Model data for analytics (data warehouse/OLAP concepts, dimensional modeling) and enable self-service BI and reporting (Power BI, Superset or similar).
- Proactively anticipates data and reporting needs and updates reporting assets regularly to reflect evolving business priorities and stakeholder requirements.
- Serves as a consultant for the organization’s data needs, advising teams on how to translate business questions into actionable data and reporting solutions.
- Partners with security teams to design and maintain appropriate access solutions, ensuring data is protected while remaining accessible to authorized users.
- Experience building and maintaining an HR-facing data dictionary, metric catalog, or semantic layer used for reporting and downstream consumption.
- Experience working with People/HR data (e.g., Workday) and understanding core HR concepts such as worker lifecycle events, job/position structures, org hierarchies, compensation, benefits, time, and security.
- Hands-on experience leveraging HR data for insights: definitions, ownership, system of record, lineage, and known data quality considerations.
- Experience partnering with HR stakeholders (HRIS, People Analytics, Total Rewards, Talent, Payroll) to deliver trusted datasets and reporting.
- Knowledge of data privacy and access principles for employee data (e.g., least privilege, sensitive data handling) and ability to work within governance standards.
- Familiarity with data governance practices (stewardship, approvals, data quality monitoring, and auditability) for sensitive employee data.
- Strong communication, prioritization, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with Workday reporting and data delivery patterns (e.g., custom reports, calculated fields) and/or Workday integrations.
- Experience enabling HR reporting and self-service analytics (Power BI or similar), including defining and governing standard metrics.
- Exposure to identity and access management concepts as they relate to HR data permissions and security roles.
- Experience improving data processes through documentation, stakeholder training, and change management.
- 5 years in people data engineering, HR analytics/engineering, or data engineering supporting HR systems (e.g., Workday), reporting, and integrations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
