The Manager, Learning Design & Development leads the strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of learning solutions that support ICS, Specialty, and Commercial Claims performance. This role manages a team responsible for designing and developing e-learning courses, assessments, learning websites, multimedia resources, reference materials, and supplemental learning assets. Operating under general supervision, the manager translates business needs across supported business areas into scalable learning experiences, strengthens team capability, advances the use of learning technologies, and ensures training solutions improve organizational performance.

Essential Functions

  • Leads people-management activities, including applicant review, hiring decisions, performance appraisals, salary adjustments, performance ratings, associate counseling, disciplinary action, and employment decisions, as appropriate.
  • Leads a team that develops training programs, initiatives, and processes that address business needs and improve organizational performance.
  • Guides the design and development of innovative learning solutions, including e-learning content, assessments, reference guides, multimedia assets, videos, off-the-shelf materials, custom courses, and supplemental learning resources.
  • Oversees instructional design deliverables, including course outlines, schematics, storyboards, interactions, feedback mechanisms, and approval cycles with subject matter experts and course sponsors.
  • Establishes development schedules, manages workflow, assigns resources, and ensures timely delivery of high-quality learning design deliverables.
  • Ensures e-learning courses are integrated with the learning management system and that learning assets are maintained, updated, and accessible.
  • Researches, evaluates, and implements emerging learning methodologies and technologies to improve e-learning effectiveness, learner experience, and business relevance.
  • Coaches and develops e-learning staff by assigning work, setting expectations, providing feedback, and supporting growth in capability.
  • Prepares department business plans and budgets, manages required supplies and materials, and reviews financial plans to support cost reduction and operational efficiency.
  • Adheres to the Code of Conduct, company policies, and operating principles.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years of training and development experience assessing team and organizational needs, developing curriculum, and delivering adult learning solutions across multiple media formats.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (fields of study: Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development, or related field).
  • Leadership experience preferred, including coaching associates, assigning work, reviewing performance, and developing team capability.
  • Strong professional communication skills with the ability to engage associates, management, subject matter experts, and course sponsors.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a fast-paced environment, resolve complex business issues, and support effective customer and stakeholder outcomes.
  • Ability to follow complex instructions, resolve or facilitate conflict resolution, and apply strong organization and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities across concurrent learning design and development efforts.
  • Ability to learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information.
  • Must be able to, with or without accommodation, perform essential functions including, but not limited to, seeing, hearing, typing, and speaking.
  • Willingness to travel up to 5% of the time, if required.
