What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gehlen Catholic School- Basketball Cheer Coach position at Gehlen Catholic Schools?
Primary Purpose: The basketball cheer coach oversees the cheer program at Gehlen Catholic. They are responsible for organizing the basketball cheerleaders during the basketball season.
Essential Functions
- Train and supervise students in the use of:
- Practice
- Games
- Teach the cheerleaders the school fight song and the cheers to be performed during basketball games and pep rallies.
- Communicate with players and parents
- Attend all basketball games, home and away (Boys and Girls)
- Work with the Athletic Director closely on scheduling and transportation.
- Follow the rules and policies set forth by Gehlen Catholic for eligibility requirements.
- Know and follow all rules and regulations from the ICCA.
- Uphold the values of our Catholic faith while leading their players.
Requirements
- Must hold a valid Iowa coaching certification or license.
- Complete Virtus training
- Completed background checks
- CPR-trained preferred but not required
- Knowledge of cheerleading from previous experiences via performing or coaching
