Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join our team in a full-time, in-office role at our Holland, Michigan office. The Tax Manager will play a critical role in managing client relationships, preparing and reviewing individual and business tax returns, and overseeing tax planning and compliance projects. This position offers an opportunity to work with a dynamic team, mentor junior staff, and contribute to the growth of a reputable firm in West Michigan. The salary range is competitive and commensurate with experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage client relationships, serving as the primary point of contact for tax-related matters.
- Prepare and review complex individual and business tax returns with accuracy and efficiency.
- Develop and implement tax planning strategies to optimize client outcomes.
- Prepare and review state and local income tax filings.
- Oversee tax projects, ensuring timely completion and compliance with regulations.
- Train and mentor new staff, fostering their professional development.
- Collaborate with partners and team members to deliver exceptional client service.
- Stay current on tax laws, regulations, and industry trends to provide informed advice.
Required:
- Valid CPA license in good standing.
- 7 years of experience in public accounting, with a focus on tax planning and preparation.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, and UltraTax software.
- Expertise in preparing individual and business tax returns.
- Strong tax planning skills and knowledge of federal tax regulations.
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office and tax software.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage client relationships effectively.
- Strong time management, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
Preferred:
- Experience with state and local tax (SALT) compliance and planning.
- Advanced QuickBooks expertise or certifications (e.g., QuickBooks ProAdvisor).
