Senior Mixed Signal Circuit Design and R&D Electrical Engineer

Geegah Inc
Ithaca, NY Full Time
POSTED ON 12/15/2025 CLOSED ON 3/19/2026

What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Mixed Signal Circuit Design and R&D Electrical Engineer position at Geegah Inc?

About the Job:

Geegah’s goal is to revolutionize how we sense the world. We build ultrasonic imagers that operate at GHz frequencies, allowing users to "see" without light and acquire information inaccessible through traditional means. From Digital Agriculture and Medical Imaging to Biometrics and Timing Devices, we envision a more efficient future across multiple sectors.

We are a high-growth startup with a collaborative, "go-get-it-done" culture. We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter to help us build the next generation of sensing hardware.

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced Research and Development Engineer with a specialized focus on Mixed Signal IC Design, Verification, and Testing. Unlike a standard engineering role, this position requires deep technical expertise in chip design and execution. You will take ownership of critical hardware architecture, moving from concept to tape-out, and validating your designs in the lab.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mixed-Signal and RF Design: Lead the design, simulation, and verification of complex mixed-signal and RF circuits (ADCs, VCOs, PLLs, RF amplifiers) for ultrasonic imaging applications.
  • CMOS Implementation and PCB design: Manage the tape-out, packaging process, working with foundries to execute designs in leading technology nodes. Take ownership of the turn-key silicon success including PCB design and testing.
  • Modeling & Simulation: Utilize MATLAB and Python to model system performance and bridge the gap between architectural concepts and transistor-level implementation.
  • Validation & Characterization: Develop testing plans and perform hands-on, (automated) characterization of fabricated chips using precision measurement equipment. Familiarity with standard mixed-signal, high-speed/RF ASIC testing and verification equipment including but not limited to, high-speed oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and FPGA’s.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the CTO, CSO, and rest of the team to integrate ICs with MEMS/sensor components.
  • Documentation and Grant Writing: High-quality engineering documentation, reporting and presentation of the work-done for team members, customers and our sponsors. Creative, out-of-the box thinker to help with writing advanced research grant-proposals .

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: A PhD is preferred, or alternatively, a Master’s degree with five or more years of hands-on circuit design experience
  • Experience: 5 years of industry experience in mixed-signal circuit design.
  • Proven Track Record: A history of working designs in multiple CMOS runs in leading technology nodes. Shipped product(s) in the market is strongly preferred.
  • Portfolio: Demonstrated success with tested and working main circuit blocks, specifically:
  • ADCs (Analog-to-Digital Converters)
  • VCOs (Voltage Controlled Oscillators)
  • PLLs (Phase Locked Loops)
  • RF Amplifiers and digital blocks
  • Technical Stack: Proficiency in Cadence circuit and layout design suites, as well as MATLAB and Python for automation and data processing.

Benefits & Compensation:

  • Health & Wellness: Comprehensive medical benefits package.
  • Work-Life Balance: Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) and sick leave policy to ensure you have the time to recharge.
  • Competitive Pay: Base salary of $110K – $125K (commensurate with experience) plus annual bonus based on performance.
  • Ownership: Equity options, offering significant upside as we grow. Usually offered around the first anniversary of the job.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Startup Mindset: You are agile, willing to wear multiple hats, and can execute tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Hands-On: You are comfortable working in a lab environment, debugging hardware, and occasionally stepping into a cleanroom environment for device integration.
  • Eligibility: Must be a U.S. citizen. This is an on-site work position in Ithaca, NY.
