Role Overview

The Used Car Sales Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of the pre-owned sales department. This position focuses on inventory management, merchandising, pricing strategy, team development, and delivering an exceptional customer experience while achieving dealership profitability goals.

Used Car Sales Manager Job Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the used vehicle sales team

• Manage vehicle inventory levels, acquisition strategies, and aging inventory

• Monitor pricing and market trends to maximize profitability

• Conduct daily sales meetings and coaching sessions

• Structure deals and assist with closing opportunities

• Work closely with Finance, Service, and Marketing departments

• Ensure compliance with dealership policies and manufacturer standards

• Analyze sales reports, KPIs, and departmental performance metrics

• Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and retention

• Recruit, hire, train, and mentor sales professionals

Used Car Sales Manager Qualifications

• Automotive sales management experience required

• Strong knowledge of used vehicle operations

• Experience managing inventory, appraisals, and pricing strategies

• Proven ability to lead teams and achieve performance goals

• Strong communication and customer service skills

• Proficiency with dealership software and reporting tools

Corporate requirements: Must be 18 years or older with a valid driver's license and clean driving record, able to pass a criminal background check, and a pre-employment drug screen.
