Kitchen Manager – Geddy’s | Bar Harbor, Maine
Geddy’s is seeking an experienced Kitchen Manager to join our team in downtown Bar Harbor.
We are a busy, fast-paced restaurant looking for a confident, hands-on leader who is organized under pressure and comfortable taking responsibility for day-to-day back-of-house operations.
The ideal candidate will have previous kitchen management or strong supervisory experience, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to maintain a positive, efficient, and high-performing kitchen environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation
- Lead, supervise, schedule, and support kitchen staff
- Maintain consistent food quality, portioning, presentation, and service standards
- Oversee ordering, inventory, stock levels, and waste control
- Monitor food and labor costs and support overall cost-control efforts
- Maintain high standards for cleanliness, sanitation, food safety, and regulatory compliance
- Train and mentor kitchen staff on procedures, culinary standards, and best practices
- Work closely with ownership, management, and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service and a positive guest experience
- Help maintain an organized, efficient kitchen during high-volume service
Qualifications:
- Proven kitchen management or supervisory experience in a high-volume restaurant
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Solid understanding of food preparation, kitchen operations, inventory management, and cost control
- Thorough knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to stay calm, organized, and effective in a fast-paced environment
- Experience training and managing kitchen staff
- Familiarity with scheduling, inventory, and restaurant management systems is a plus
- Commitment to teamwork, hospitality, and maintaining high standards
Pay: $28–$32/hour, depending on experience
Full-time position with competitive compensation for the right candidate. The position will begin as hourly, with the opportunity to transition to a salaried role next year. Geddy’s season runs through early December and the restaurant reopens in early March.
